Dafna Linzner gibt heute in der WP einen kleinen Vorgeschmack auf den Bericht des IAEA Generaldirektors ElBaradei, der morgen vorgelegt werden soll.

Demnach schert sich der Iran wenig um das Ultimatum des Sicherheitsrates, seine Arbeiten an der Urananreicherung bis zum 31. August auszusetzen, sondern arbeitet ungerührt weiter.

Officials familiar with the inspectors’ summer findings said they will report that Iran has produced several kilograms of low-enriched uranium and as much as 145 tons of converted uranium in the past year.

Mit dem “umgewandelten Uran” dürfte die Konversion von Uranerz in gasförmiges Uranhexafluorid, die Vorstufe für die Anreicherung, gemeint sein.

Interessant noch diese Information.

The officials stressed that the Iranians are working at a slow pace with small quantities of uranium, and that they are enriching the material to an extremely low level that could not be used for nuclear weapons.
