AP und Reuters melden heute, Präsident Ahmadinejad habe die Bereitschaft seiner Regierung erklärt, den USA zu helfen, wenn sie sich aus dem Irak zurückziehen würden.

Beide Agenturen zitieren eine Passage aus der Rede, die Ahmadinejad heute bei einem Aufmarsch von Basiji am Schrein des verstorbenen Revolutionsführers Khomeini.

“The Iranian nation is ready to help you get out of that swamp (in Iraq) on one condition … you should pledge to correct your attitude,” Ahmadinejad said in a televised speech to a parade of the Basij religious militia.

“Go back and take your forces to behind your borders and serve your own nations,” he added. (Reuters)

In der Tat hat der iranische Präsident dies so oder zumindest so ähnlich (die Übersetzungen unterscheiden sich ein wenig) gesagt. Neu ist das nicht, denn Ahmadinejad wie auch andere Angehörige des Regimes in Teheran haben in den letzten Tagen bereits erklärt, man sei bereit, mit den USA direkte Gespräche zur Situation im Irak zu führen, wenn Washington bereit sei, sein Verhalten zu ändern.

Der iranische Präsident sagte aber noch mehr.

“You are considered as accomplices in the crimes committed in Iraq and the bloods shed under the cover of financial and military support.

Therefore, you should stand trial in fair tribunals in the near future and be answerable.”

He urged that regional countries and governments should cooperate closely to drive the foreigners out of the region and called on them to beware of conspiracies and not let the region be pushed to the verge of downfall. (IRNA)
