Nun, da das iranische Regime nach langem, langem Zögern bereit zu sein scheint, mit den USA direkte Gespräche zu führen, kommen auch andere im Lande auf einige Gedanken.

A number of representatives at Iran’s Islamic Consultative Assembly here on Tuesday started collecting signatures from their colleagues to approve a plan for the formation of Iran-US parliamentary friendship group. (Fars News1)

Warum auch nicht? Was der Regierung recht ist, sollte für die Parlamentarier billig sein, zumal der Iran immer wieder betont, man habe Probleme ausschließlich mit der US Regierung, nicht mit der amerikanischen Bevölkerung.

“If (Iranian) government officials are reconciling with Americans, why can’t the Iranian nation reconcile with the American people?” said Jalal Hosseini, another Iranian reformist lawmaker who signed the petitition.

“We are seeking to form this friendship committee to undermine anti-Iran policies of the Bush administration and show our good will and our peace-loving spirits,” he said. (AP via CBS)

Aber ganz so weit will das Regime die Tür nun doch nicht öffnen.

Chairman of Iranian Parliament’s National Security and Foreign Policy Commission Alaoddin Boroujerdi here on Tuesday blasted the efforts made by certain MPs to form a parliamentary friendship group between Iran and the US.

“Apparently some representatives are not informed of the United States’ hostile measures against Iran,” Boroujerdi said sarcastically. (Fars News2)

Und auch das Außenministerium, das im Grundsatz pro-Dialog eingestellt ist, hielt eine solche Freundschaftsgruppe nicht für eine solch gute Idee.

Earlier on Sunday, Iranian Foreign Ministry Spokesman Seyed Mohammad Ali Hosseini said such issues should be pursued through official channels.

“If there exists such a plan, then those favoring the plan should refer it to the officials to be studied and assessed,” the spokesman added. (Fars News 1)

Es dauerte keine 24 Stunden, da sahen sich die Initiatoren der Idee gewzungen, erst einmal einen Rückzug zu machen.

Speaking to reporters on the sidelines of an open session of the Islamic Consultative Assembly here on Tuesday, representative of Zanjan Seyed Jalal Hosseini said his colleagues have decided not to introduce the proposal to the parliament so as to carry out more studies in this regard. Auch im Iran sind “weitere Studien” der sicherste Weg, eine Idee zu begraben.
